Charles E. Carraher, Jr. is a professor of chemistry and biochemistry at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. He is also an associate director of the Florida Center for Environmental Studies in Palm Beach Gardens.

Good Introductory Polymer Chemistry Book

This introductory text is easy to read and comprehend. The context flow and organization is well done. The author gives good explanations of the various polymer types. This is the first text that I've read that includes an environmental piece, although short.
I only have two complaints about the book. The first issue is that the cover detached from the binding in the front very quickly. I bought the book new and within two weeks it started to separate. Now tape is holding it together. The second issue is that the book has noticeable grammatical errors that are surprising for a second edition. Also found an abbreviation inconsistency.
Overall, a good introductory text and would recommend it.

Not that useful for polymer chemistry

This book was the new text assigned for a course in organic polymer science. I'm glad that I bought the previously used text for the class as well. Polymer Chemistry: An Introduction by Stevens was a much more technical and useful reference.
