A Key Reference for Construction of Marine and Offshore Structures

At more than 800 pages, this is a hefty and detailed book on construction of marine and offshore structures. The author, Ben Gerwick, is a leading authority on the subject, with decades of industry experience, so the orientation of the book is practical rather than academic. While the focus is on construction, with design issues only mentioned tangentially, engineers will still find this book to be a valuable reference. No book can answer every question that might come up on your projects, but this one comes as close as one could reasonably hope. Highly recommended.

Generic contents and poor paper quality - OVERPRICED

I choose this book hoping to find some interesting guidelines on how to project drilling platforms, and from the title and the index it looked like the right book for me. Sadly I found out that the book is printed in black and white, the contents are not really what I would define up to date and the main part of the book is basically unrelated to the tipe of platforms I wanted to know about (there are lots of concrete installations but quite a few stuff about semisubmersibles and jack ups. ).
I would suggest the book if you are interested in a generic text book with interesting contents, but forget about it if you want an aid to project for real. Furthermore, the price is just too high for the quality and the age of the topics.
